S&P Global
S&P Global is a multinational financial information and analytics company headquartered in New York City. The organisation provides credit ratings, benchmarks, data and research across capital, commodity and automotive markets worldwide. It operates through several divisions, including S&P Global Ratings, S&P Global Market Intelligence, S&P Global Commodity Insights and S&P Global Mobility. S&P Global Ratings is one of the three dominant credit rating agencies globally, assessing the creditworthiness of sovereign nations, corporations and financial instruments. S&P Global Commodity Insights, formerly IHS Markit, delivers price assessments, news and analysis for energy, metals and agricultural markets, including widely referenced oil price benchmarks. The company serves financial institutions, corporations, governments and individual investors with data platforms, indices and analytical tools. S&P Global employs tens of thousands of people across more than 35 countries. The firm was founded in 1888 as Poor's Publishing and merged with Standard Statistics in 1941 to form Standard & Poor's, later rebranding to S&P Global in 2016 to reflect its broader scope beyond ratings and indices.
