Boutique Intellectual Property (IP) law firm Spoor & Fisher has been named the winner in the “specialist law firm of the year” category at the prestigious African Legal Awards 2017. This is the 4th award Spoor & Fisher has taken in 2017.
Hosted by Legal Week and the Corporate Counsel Association of South Africa (CCASA), the awards seek to recognise exceptional achievement from within Africa’s legal community. The entries are judged on strictly enforced criteria by an independent panel of senior individuals in the legal sector.
Hugh Melamdowitz, Partner at Spoor & Fisher, collected the award “We are honoured to receive this pan-African accolade. The award reflects our commitment to clients across the continent and recognises the excellent work that we have done over the past year.”
Spoor & Fisher was also acknowledged within the “Large Law Firm” category for its commitment and continued contribution of pro bono hours at the Pro Bono Annual Awards Ceremony 2017. These awards celebrate lawyers and law firms who go beyond the call of duty.
“To be recognised for pro bono work where our partners and lawyers selflessly provide the best legal advice to sections of society that would not otherwise be able to access such support is humbling,” added Linda Thilivhali, Partner, Spoor & Fisher.
