The 7th edition of WTR 1000 - The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals – has awarded specialist Intellectual Property (IP) law firm Spoor & Fisher gold band rating in the latest WTR 1000. The WTR 1000 recommends individual practitioners and firms exclusively in the trade mark field and in 2017 identified leading players in 90 key jurisdictions globally.

In addition, the work of Spoor & Fisher’s six partners was highlighted in the publication.

WTR described Charles Webster as one of the best practitioners in South Africa with remarkable IP knowledge. Eben van Wyk, the publication noted as a hugely talented, extremely efficient, insightful and experienced IP lawyer.

The publication also highlighted the work done by Carl van Rooyen on Adcock Ingram, Mohamed Khader for his anti-counterfeiting efforts, Louise Myburgh for her wealth of knowledge on every conceivable trade mark issue and referred to Kay Rickelman as a search and clearance virtuoso.

According to the publication, “Spoor & Fisher is really excellent and serves as a one-stop shop with excellent links and contacts.”

Firms qualify for a listing in WTR 1000 on the basis of depth of expertise, market presence and level of instructed work. The accolades are based on interviews, both face-to-face and telephonic, correspondence with hundreds of lawyers, attorneys and their clients involved with trade marks as well as written submissions from firms detailing their recent activity in the field.

The WTR 1000 is presented by World Trademark Review, the world’s only independent daily news and information service dedicated to reporting on strategic and legal trade mark issues for in-house and private practitioners globally.
