Public Works Minister Nkosinathi Nhleko, MP, will be unveiling a memorial stone in honour of 10 people who lost their lives when a vehicle in which they were travelling was swept by a heavy flood in Bawa, outside Butterworth in 1993.

At that time of the tragic accident, there were no properly built bridges and people and vehicles were forced to cross the stream.
The bridges have now been built through a partnership with DPW, Eastern Cape Department of Roads and Transport, as well as the Department of Defence.
