MEC for the Department of Infrastructure Development (GDID) Mr Jacob Mamabolo will tomorrow, the 31st of May 2017, announce the outcomes of an investigation into the cause of the roof collapse at Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital. MEC Mamabolo appointed an independent legal firm Adams and Adams Attorneys to investigate the cause of a roof collapse during maintenance operation on the 2nd of March 2017 where five people were injured. Gauteng Premier David Makhura and National Minister for Health Dr Aron Motsoaledi were also on the scene of the incident.
Preliminary indications suggested that the incident occurred due to the contractor stock-piling of heavy concrete over the roof structure.
