Less than a month after confirming Bowmans’ status as the leading multi-jurisdictional M&A adviser in Africa, IFLR1000 has once again recognised the firm’s expertise in its Financial and Corporate Guide for 2020.
Eighteen of Bowmans’ practices across five jurisdictions (Kenya, Mauritius, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda) were ranked (eight in the top tier) and 37 of its lawyers were recognised
Bowmans is rated in the top tier in Kenya for Financial and Corporate, and Mining; in South Africa for Capital Markets, Power, and Mergers and Acquisitions; and in Uganda for Financial and Corporate, and Project Development.
Of the 37 recognised lawyers, 30 were identified as ‘Highly Regarded’, four were named as 'Notable Practitioners' and three were labelled as ‘Rising Stars’.
This is the thirtieth edition of the publication, which identifies and ranks ‘leading financial and corporate law firms and lawyers’ in around 170 countries. According to the publishers, the research and rankings are assessed ‘on the basis of transactional advice’.
Chairman and senior partner Robert Legh says, ‘These results are very pleasing. We aim to help our clients with their most complex legal problems in Africa. Because IFLR’s research is based on the work that we’ve been doing for clients over the past year, they provide a good indication of how we’re doing on this front.’
