IFLR1000 has once again recognised Bowmans’ expertise as a leading legal adviser on complex and multi-jurisdictional corporate and finance matters in Africa.
Results published in IFLR’s Financial and Corporate Guide for 2021/2022 show that 19 of Bowmans’ practices, from across all six countries in which it has offices (Kenya, Mauritius, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia) were ranked.
Deputy Chairman, Ezra Davids, says, ‘These results are very pleasing. The fact that we have been recognised across our entire geographical footprint is indicative of the consistently excellent service that we are able to provide through our ‘one firm’ approach.’
Eight of Bowmans’ practices are rated in the top tier:
· Kenya in Financial and Corporate, and Project Development: Mining;
· South Africa in Capital Markets: Debt, Capital Markets: Equity, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Project Development: Energy; and
· Uganda in Financial and Corporate, and Project Development.
In addition, 41 of its lawyers were recognised across a range of practice areas. Of these, 33 were identified as ‘Highly Regarded’, four were named as 'Notable Practitioners', two were labelled as ‘Rising Stars’ and deputy chairman, Ezra Davids, was labelled ‘Market Leader’.
This is the thirty-first edition of the publication, which ‘undertakes qualitative research into law firms and lawyers’ and identifies and ranks ‘leading financial and corporate law firms and lawyers’ in around 235 countries. According to the publishers, the research and rankings are assessed ‘on the basis of transactional work’.
Deputy Chairman David Mpanga concludes, ‘We aim to help our clients with their most complex legal problems in Africa. Our stellar results are especially pleasing because IFLR’s research is based on the work that we have been doing for clients on the continent over the past year.’
