University Of Johannesburg

The University of Johannesburg is a public research university located in Johannesburg, South Africa. It was established on 1 January 2005 through the merger of the Randse Afrikaanse Universiteit, the Technikon Witwatersrand and the Soweto and East Rand campuses of Vista University. The institution operates across four campuses in the Johannesburg metropolitan area: Auckland Park Kingsway, Auckland Park Bunting Road, Doornfontein and Soweto. The university offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across nine faculties, including engineering, business, health sciences, humanities, law, science, education, art and architecture. With an enrolment of more than 50 000 students, it is one of the largest contact universities in South Africa. The University of Johannesburg has positioned itself as a research-intensive institution with a focus on innovation, entrepreneurship and community engagement. It maintains partnerships with industry, government and international academic institutions to support economic development and address societal challenges. The university has achieved notable rankings in global and African university assessments and contributes to research output in fields including mining engineering, transport logistics, health sciences and urban studies. Its location in South Africa's economic hub provides students and researchers with access to industry networks and opportunities in finance, manufacturing, logistics and technology sectors.
