Business Unity South Africa
Business Unity South Africa is an independent confederation of business organisations and associations representing South African enterprises across all sectors and sizes. Established in 2003, it serves as a principal voice for organised business in South Africa, engaging with government, labour and civil society on economic policy and reform. The organisation's membership includes major business associations, chambers of commerce and industry bodies, collectively representing thousands of companies from small enterprises to large corporations. Business Unity South Africa participates in key national forums including the National Economic Development and Labour Council (Nedlac), where it represents business in tripartite negotiations on labour, economic and development policy. The confederation advocates for policies that promote economic growth, job creation, investment and competitiveness. It has been particularly active in engaging with government on issues such as energy security, infrastructure development, regulatory reform and the business environment. During periods of economic challenge, including the loadshedding crisis and the formation of the Government of National Unity, Business Unity South Africa has played a prominent role in dialogue with government and other stakeholders. The organisation works alongside other business formations such as Business Leadership South Africa and Business for South Africa, each with distinct but complementary mandates in representing South African business interests.
