African Rainbow Minerals

African Rainbow Minerals is a South African diversified mining company with interests in platinum-group metals, iron ore, coal, copper and other minerals. The company is headquartered in Johannesburg and operates mines and projects across South Africa, including platinum operations in Rustenburg and iron ore assets near Kuruman in the Northern Cape. African Rainbow Minerals is listed on the JSE Limited and is part of the Patrice Motsepe business empire, making it one of the country's prominent black-owned mining houses. The company's core operations include platinum production through ARM Platinum, iron ore through Assmang (a joint venture with Assore), and coal assets. It also holds interests in ferroalloy production, including ferrochrome smelting operations. African Rainbow Minerals employs thousands of people and is a significant contributor to South Africa's mining output and export earnings. The company is active in skills development and training initiatives within the mining sector. It maintains memberships in industry bodies such as the Minerals Council South Africa and engages with research institutions including the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
