OUTA today repeated its earlier request put to Minister Lynne Brown, to do everything she can to obtain a copy of the original “detroyed” Dentons report, if she is to gain the respect and support of the public.

This follows a private letter written to Minister Brown on 8 March 2017 calling on the Minister to make available the “destroyed” version of the Dentons report, which is the one that carried the names of Eskom miscreants and their deeds and was ordered to be destroyed by senior management, who only allowed a ‘sensored or dumbed down (and initially redacted) version to be made available.

It is unheard of Internationally that a utility of Eskom’s stature and exposure to foreign lenders, can order a forensic Board report that highlights criminal activity, to be “destroyed”.

OUTA prefers to follow accepted protocol and accordingly again calls on Minister Brown to issue an instruction to the Eskom Board and their lawyers, Dentons, who will have a copy of the original version of the Eskom report, to make this version of the Dentons report available within the next seven days, failing which our options to take further steps in this regard will be pursued.

OUTA has reason to believe the original version of the Dentons report will highlight the people responsible for serious transgressions reflected in the media and more, and place civil society in a position to participate in conducting some of the work required to hold those responsible to account.
