I, Dipuo Peters, Minister of Transport, acting in terms of section 75 of the National Road Traffic Act, 1996, read with regulation 35 of the National Road Traffic Regulations, 2000 hereby intend to determine that from a date to be determine by the MEC in the Province of North West the licence number of a motor vehicle licensed in the Province of North West, shall only be displayed on a metal plate, to be referred to as a number plate and which complies with South African National Standard 1116: “Retro-reflective Number Plates for Motor Vehicles”, Part 2: “Number plates (Aluminium)”.
