Housing MMC launches probe into suspicious housing allocations in Fleurhof

The Member of the Mayoral Committee for Housing in the City of Joburg, Councillor Mlungisi Mabaso, has called for an urgent investigation into the unlawful and unauthorised allocation of houses to people in Fleurhof, west of Johannesburg.

Cllr Mabaso has written to the Group Forensic and Investigation Service Head, General Shadrack Sibiya, calling on him to urgently open a probe into the alleged illegal housing allocations in Fleurhof. This follows information that people were allocated house two weeks ago and some were scheduled for Wednesday this week without his approval.

“I condemn those implicated in these illegal allocations and should we discover that some of the officials from the Housing Department are implicated, they will face the full might of the law,” said MMC Mabaso.

People on the allocations do not even qualify for houses at this point as most applied recently while and jumped the queue of people who applied in 1996, who are yet to be allocated homes.

“What is disturbing is that some of the people on this dodgy lists do not even have identity documents and are two young to receive houses,” says Cllr Mabaso.

The investigation will identify any wrongdoing and there will be consequences implemented against the wrongdoers.
