Only a few weeks after the DA decisively won three wards off the ANC and PA in by-elections held in Beaufort West on 19 June 2024, the DA’s Sias Reynolds was elected Executive Mayor at a special council meeting today. Also elected in council today were the DA’s Georgina Duimpies as Executive Deputy Mayor, and Japie van der Linde as Speaker.

The DA’s historic victory at the 19 June by-elections in Beaufort West marked the first time ever that the DA governs the Beaufort West municipality with an outright majority.

Developments today usher in a turning point for the municipality and the people of Beaufort West. For years, the municipality has been mired by mismanagement and corruption, but with Mayor Reynolds and the DA-team at the helm, we will work to turn things around and ensure good, clean governance and excellent service delivery for all resident in the municipality.

The DA in Beaufort West wishes to thank the East Regional structure, under leadership of Chairperson Venolea Fortuin, for the tremendous support given to the DA Beaufort West Constituency during the by-election campaign.
