Funzi Ngobeni is ActionSA’s new Gauteng Chairperson

ActionSA announced, on Tuesday, its decision to appoint Funzi Ngobeni as its new Gauteng chairperson following the departure of Bongani Baloyi.

Engagements and consultations took place between the Senate and the Gauteng consulting structures on the decision to appoint Ngobeni after his nomination was met with broad support, the party said.

On Monday, the party revealed that it had mutually parted ways with Baloyi owing to “irreconcilable differences”.

ActionSA chairperson Michael Beaumont attested to the credibility of Ngobeni’s leadership on the basis of his role as the party’s Director of Operations, responsible for establishing and setting up structures of ActionSA across the country.

Beaumont affirms that “in large part the results achieved in Gauteng in 2021 arose from Ngobeni’s work.”

Ngobeni has served in government in the City of Johannesburg between 2016 and 2021.

“ActionSA is positioned well to emerge as the largest party of the new governing coalition in Gauteng following the 2024 national and provincial elections. It is imperative that our structures in Gauteng are led effectively towards the purpose of ActionSA being the alternative to the failed ANC governance,” it said.
