The Democratic Alliance in KwaZulu-Natal is elated to announce that the people of uMngeni have voted and that – for the next five years – they will live within a DA-led municipality.

The citizens of uMngeni have spoken loud and clear. They are no longer prepared to put up with the ANC’s failed governance.

This is evidenced by the DA’s outright majority in this watershed victory – one which we planned and worked extremely hard to achieve.

uMngeni Municipality is a historic victory for the DA in the province of KZN.

Today’s win would, of course, not be possible without the support of the many uMngeni residents who came out to vote for change. The DA thanks each and every individual who took the time and effort to do so.

We thank the community for their mandate of support and confidence in our ability to get things done.

The DA acknowledges the tremendous effort of our entire uMngeni campaign team, sitting Councillors, candidates and Mayor elect, Chris Pappas, that made this victory possible. This journey commenced 15 years ago under the constituency leadership of Greg Krumbock.

Today, the DA stands ready to serve the people of uMngeni. We also stand ready to prove to the citizens of our province that where we govern, we govern well.

The time has come to get things done!
