ActionSA Writes to Gauteng Premier Panyaza About Stagnant Beyers Naude Road UpgradeĀ

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi

ActionSA has written to Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi, for a status update regarding the delayed upgrade of the K31, Beyers Naude Drive (Road D374) between the R114 and Peter Road.

It has been nearly five years since the project was initially tendered, which was later awarded in 2022.

Despite this, there has been little to no progress made on this multimillion-rand project, which has been stagnant since 14 July 2023.

We have written to Panyaza to establish why the construction of K31, Beyers Naude Drive, stopped and when the project will resume.

It should not take five years to upgrade a road, especially with access to the necessary resources and skills to ensure that the project is adequately and timely built.

Furthermore, this delay is an inconvenience for the businesses that operate and residents that travel on that road.

The future of economic prosperity is dependent on effective and productive expenditure on economic infrastructure. The government has to invest in the foundations that will ensure South Africa and its people flourish.

We will ensure that we receive answers from those in charge and that the upgrade of the road resumes.
