Member of Mayoral Committee for Economic Development, Cllr Lawrence Khoza will on Tuesday, 08 June 2021, launch the Youth Cooperatives Development Programme in Cosmo City, Region C.
The aim of this programme is to raise awareness among young people about co-operatives as an alternative form of enterprise model which young people can use for their economic, social and cultural development as well as the attainment of their aspirations.
This programme is primarily intended to address the persistently high youth unemployment rate which has long been one of the most pressing socio-economic problems in South Africa, more especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. As part of the City’s efforts to recover and reconstruct its Economy, creating opportunities for young people to participate in the economy and transforming them from being job seekers into job creators is a major priority.
Members of the media are invited to cover the launch of Youth Cooperatives as follows:
Date: Tuesday, 08 June 2021
Venue: Cosmo City Multipurpose Centre, 154 Angola Avenue, Cosmo City.
Time: 09h00-13h00
Everyone attending the launch is requested to wear a mask correctly, sanitise their hands and observe social distancing
