Webber Wentzel, a leading corporate and tax law firm, launched its dedicated mentorship programme on 3 July 2024. The programme is designed to empower incoming candidate attorneys (CAs) as they transition from academic life to the dynamic world of legal practice.
Formally introduced at the firm's Work Readiness Programme (a platform set out to equip incoming candidate attorneys with practical training before officially commencing their roles), the programme solidifies its commitment to nurturing talent and fostering a culture of excellence.
Incoming CAs (for the new year) are paired with experienced second-year CAs who will be mentors and provide valuable guidance and support. Mentors will be available to address questions, offer practical insights and assist mentees in seamlessly integrating into Webber Wentzel's unique culture and values.
In addition, the programme aims to equip CAs with a well-rounded skillset essential for success in the legal field. During this 6-month programme, mentors will guide mentees in honing soft skills such as communication, time management, and conflict resolution.
“We are thrilled to launch this dedicated mentorship programme for our incoming CAs,” said Tasneem Fakie, Webber Wentzel's Acting Human Resources Head. “This initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation of legal talent by empowering our CAs to thrive in their new roles and make a lasting impact on the firm and the legal profession”.
With this dedicated mentorship programme, Webber Wentzel fosters a supportive environment where new talent can flourish. The firm is confident that this initiative will play a crucial role in shaping the future success of its incoming candidate attorneys and the legal profession.
