Western Cape Premier Alan Winde has suspended the Community Safety MEC Albert Fritz with immediate effect, following serious allegations of sexual assault.
In a statement released on Monday, Winde disclosed that a full investigation was launched against Fritz.
“In the past week serious allegations pertaining to the conduct of Minister Albert Fritz were brought to my attention and therefore my decision is to suspend him with immediate effect and he has accepted. I have initiated a full investigation which must proceed on an unhindered basis. Minister Fritz has offered his full cooperation in this investigation,” Winde said.
Winde further stated in the released statement that an update on the suspension of Fritz’s suspension would be served “in due course”.
