UKZN Library Joins Forces with Sabinet to Utilise Open Journal Systems for Sustainable Publishing

Sabinet, a leading provider of library and information services, is delighted to announce that the University of KwaZulu-Natal Library has signed up for the Open Journal Systems (OJS) offering by Sabinet. This innovative platform empowers publishers to achieve sustainability in their publishing efforts while connecting researchers globally and promoting Africa's knowledge economy. 

UKZN Library, renowned for its diverse range of academic and general expertise books, accredited journals. These journals are disseminated through Sabinet African Journals, a comprehensive platform focusing on information from or about Africa.

“The University of KwaZulu-Natal Library Services is excited about partnering with Sabinet in publishing our Open Access Journals on a safe and secure platform like Open Journal Systems (OJS)” says Faith Magwaza, Principal Librarian at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

“OJS supports the publishing of peer-reviewed journals across every stage of the peer-review and editorial process, from submission to the final publication. Partnering with Sabinet will enhance the visibility, discoverability and dissemination of the UKZN Open Access scholarly publications” she added.  

Together, Sabinet and UKZN will ensure that the Open Scholarship content reaches the global scholarship community with the seamless integration between OJS and the Sabinet African Journals platform. This partnership will enable the library to enter a new era in online content management and creation and ensure the longevity of scholarly research. “This integration allows for a complete Open Access solution. There are six Open Access Journals that are part of the partnership agreement, and we anticipate that more journals will be incorporated into the OJS Open Access publishing platform in the near future.” Nomusa Magwaza concluded.
