The University of Cape Town (UCT) on Tuesday released a timetable for exams and the academic calendar for 2017, following weeks of disruption during protests over fee-free tertiary education.
Examinations would start on November 7, but students could defer individual exams or their full block of exams to January 2017, UCT said in a communiqué.
Exams would be confined to secured venues to avoid disruptions.
Classes would commence on March 13, 2017. Some faculties would run a mini-semester from January 3 to 20.
