Transport Minister to visit the Beitbridge Border to monitor cross-border operations
The Minister of Transport, Mr Joe Maswanganyi, will visit the Beitbridge Border Post on Wednesday, 28 June 2017 in Musina, Limpopo.
Minister Maswanganyi will assess the cross-border operations at the Beitbridge Port of Entry (PoE) and interact with the authorities that operate the PoE which is the busiest commercial border post amongst all the borders that link South Africa with its neighbouring countries.
The Minister will also get an update on the challenges faced by both officials and members of the public who rely on the Port of Entry to enter or leave South Africa.
The border post is used by trucks and motorists from countries such as Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Minister will lead a multi-stakeholder law enforcement operation along the N1 corridor that leads to the port of entry which is aimed at promoting safe transportation of passengers and goods, checking stolen and unroadworthy vehicles.
