The DA Matjhabeng Caucus wants to publicly note that the recent statement ‘The President has seen and witnessed the good work that is being done by the Executive Mayor’ made by the 'Official' Facebook page of the Executive Mayor, Thanduxolo Khalipha, is misleading and the complete opposite of the current state of the Matjhabeng Local Municipality. The DA in Matjhabeng have repeatedly submitted questions to each council sitting to pressure the Local Municipality and ensure accountability.

Each ward in Matjhabeng has raw sewage running down the street or on residents’ property. The entire municipality has a single serviceable TLB, a cherry picker and an electrical circuit testing machine to serve the municipality. The lack of equipment and maintenance has led to the collapse of infrastructure in Matjhabeng. With no operational refuse removal plan, the people are left at the mercy of the truck 'might come today program'. The list of dilapidated infrastructure in the Municipality is endless.

DA councillors are fighting a daily battle to ensure residents receive the services that they have a right to. The people of Matjhabeng are exposed to the uncaring officials of the Matjhabeng Local Government that has no spirit of ‘Batho Pele’ (people first). The DA in Matjhabeng will continue to pressure the local authorities and make contributions toward resolving the service delivery issues.
