The Portfolio Committee on Telecommunications and Postal Services will tomorrow, 16 May 2017, adopt the oversight report of a visit to clinics and a school in Mpumalanga and Gauteng, which took place in March 2017.
In Mpumalanga, the Committee visited three of the 21 clinics and one school, which had been connected to the internet by the Universal Services and Access Agency of South Africa (USSASA). They are Prince Mkolishi health centre, Silobela day clinic and Carolina town clinic.
The Committee had expressed unhappiness with the lack of connectivity and poor internet service at Carolina town clinic and Silobela Day clinic, and asked for a report from USAASA.
Once adopted by the Committee, the report will be referred to the National Assembly for concurrence, after which it will be referred to the Minister of the Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services for implementation.
The meeting will take place as follows:
Time: 10:00
Venue: Committee Room M515, Marks Building
