ENSafrica is proud to announce that Michael Tétreault Schilling has joined the firm as an executive.
Michael left Linklaters in 2008 and went on to serve as a non-executive member of the board of directors for A&D Pharma and as an independent legal consultant in emerging markets. Michael has now relocated to Mauritius in a bold move to become part of the ever-growing opportunities on the ground in Africa.
Michael focuses exclusively on the emerging markets of Africa, bringing with him his extensive experience working with multidisciplinary teams in multi-jurisdictional M&A, corporate finance, energy, mining, privatisation and infrastructure transactions. Michael lends his expertise to supporting the expansion of ENSafrica into new markets throughout Africa.
Michael brings over twenty years’ experience in developed and emerging markets, having previously worked in Canada, China, South East Asia, Central Asia, and Central and Eastern Europe. He has extensive experience in entering and unlocking new markets, experience that he will use to advance ENSafrica’s ever-growing African footprint. Michael stated: “ENSafrica was a natural fit for me when deciding to move. Of the many choices available, joining a team of this calibre to work in Africa, for Africa was the opportunity I was looking for. Africa is where so much of the action is happening today and I have found a firm whose commitment to the continent and its clients makes me want to be part of it.”
ENSafrica is proud to welcome someone of Michael’s calibre and standing into our fold. Michael’s experience in comprehensively expanding legal services into neighbouring jurisdictions is well known, and his skill in this cross-border assimilation is in line with our vision to be the African law firm of choice.
“Clients increasingly require a local presence coupled with strong expertise on the African continent. There is great opportunity for clients in Africa when partnered with a law firm that can assist them seamlessly, no matter what jurisdiction they choose to do business in. ENSafrica is unique in terms of its ability to have experienced world-class professionals on the ground in jurisdictions where they are needed most,” says Michael.
Mzi Mgudlwa, the deputy CEO of ENSafrica commented that “the ability of ENSafrica to recruit world-class talent is evidence of both the growing attractiveness of opportunities in the African market, as well the firm’s ability to seize those opportunities.”
