Did you know that the cross-border road transport industry plays a crucial role in the movement of passengers and goods between South Africa and other African countries? Despite the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the global and African economies, the cross-border road transport industry played a vital role in transporting goods to various countries. To ascertain this fact, the Cross-Border Road Transport Agency (C-BRTA) conducted research on trade volumes’ statistics and value flowing through South African Commercial Border Posts.
The purpose of the study was to create an understanding of the key contributory role that the cross-border road transport industry plays to facilitate intra-Africa trade through an assessment of trade statistics and goods transported by road transport through the commercial border posts between South Africa and neighbouring countries. The highlight of the study is that, despite the impact of Covid-19, South Africa exported a total of 27,2 billion units of goods to the neighbouring countries by road at a value of R238 billion in 2020.
To get detailed information about this study, the C-BRTA invites you to a media conference which will be led by the Acting CEO, Mr Lwazi Mboyi. The details of the media conference are as follows;
Date: 1 September 2021
Time: 11am -12pm
Venue: Virtual Meeting
