The Statistician-General, of South Africa, Mr Risenga Maluleke, will release the results of the ‘Education Series Volume VIII COVID-19 and barriers to participation in South Africa, 2020 report on Thursday, 24 February 2022 in Pretoria.
The report focused on the readiness of households to transition from face-to-face learning to digital learning platforms like television-based, to internet-based instructions during COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. These options required access to the necessary technology or tools by households to benefit from these methods of learning. The report also looked at the urban-rural digital divide as well as the inequality by income in accessing the internet.
