The recently elected Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Appropriations, Mr Mmusi Maimane, invites stakeholders and interested parties to submit written or oral contributions on the 2024 Appropriation Bill. Tabled by the Minister of Finance on 21 February 2024, the Bill aims to appropriate funds from the National Revenue Fund to meet the state’s requirements for the 2024/25 financial year and address related matters.
Mr Maimane emphasised, ‘The Appropriations Committee is dedicated to ensuring that our legislative work is strengthened to serve the 60 million South Africans effectively. By holding the executive accountable, we are empowered by the law to better represent the interests of our citizens.”
Public hearings on the Bill will be conducted via the Zoom virtual meeting platform on 19 July 2024. The deadline for submissions or to indicate your intention to make an oral presentation is 12:00 pm on 18 July 2024.
