Solidarity will present its comprehensive costing report regarding the National Health Insurance (NHI) tomorrow at 10:00. This report was compiled by the Solidarity Research Institute (SRI) and contains an outline of all costs that must be incurred to be able to finance the NHI.

Solidarity argues that the NHI is unaffordable for South Africa and will not only place the country under more financial pressure, but it will also open the door to corruption more widely. “It will already cost billions of rands just to fill the deficit in the budget for this, and we simply cannot afford to borrow more money. We must oppose it and we will litigate, if necessary,” said Dr Dirk Hermann, Chief Executive Officer of Solidarity.
