The Schubart Park Residents will embark on a march to hand over a memorandum of grievances to the Mayor of the City Of Tshwane. This follows reluctance by the Municipality to follow a Constitutional Court order which directed the Municipality to refurbish Schubart Park and relocate the residents as soon as possible. It is now six years after the ruling was issued by the highest Court in the land and nothing has been done by the City.

Over the past 5 months the City has announced restricted government expenditure by means of targeting and other penny-pinching measures. This is done in the name of cost savings which has got an impact on the poor people of Schubart Park. We therefore demand to be relocated back to Schubart Park.

The City is preparing to evict our people from the alternative accommodation using all tactics available to them in order to avoid providing alternative accommodation to the evicted residents.

We have also notified the security cluster in the City of Tshwane about our intention to embark on a peaceful march to make sure that they properly prepared for the event.

The details of the march are as follows-:

Date : 15 March 2017
Venue : Cnr Schubart Street and Vermuelen ( Madiba)
Time of Gathering : 09h00
Time of March : 11h00
Destination of Memorandum Handing Over : Isivuno BLDNG – 12h30

All media are invited to come and witness the march. For further details please feel free to contact-:

Ali Mashimbye 076 431 8858
Mashao Chauke 082 212 6518

Please note that this is a legally protected march and we therefore extend our invitation to other struggling communities to come and join us.
