The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Dr. Yusuf Dadoo District extends its well wishes to the ANC West Rand Regional Chairperson, Cde William Mathafeng on his recent election as the Mayor of Rand West City Local Municipality.

Cde William, is a tried and tested cadre of the movement who rose through the ranks of the ANC Youth League, and was later entrusted with a significant role of being deployed to the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.

The SACP expresses confidence in Cde William and his executive committee and believes that as a collective they will diligently execute their duties for the benefit of the working class in the district.

The Rand West City Local Municipality has faced challenges in delivering services to its community. With these changes, as the SACP we are optimistic that the Municipality will strive to enhance its service delivery, bringing dignity and improvement to the lives of the city's residents. The National Democratic Revolution, a cornerstone of our Alliance, is currently under threat, and therefore we believe that it was necessary to deploy a cadre of William's experience in government to restore voter confidence as we approach the monumental task of the 2024 National and Provincial Elections.

As the SACP we extend our best wishes to Cde William on this new chapter and also seize this opportunity to express our gratitude to the outgoing mayor, Cde Gladys Khoza, for her outstanding work during her tenure. We wish her success in her new assignment.
