The South African Communist Party will hold the first Central Committee plenary after the local government elections from Friday to Sunday, 3–5 December 2021. The highest decision-making body of the SACP in between the Party’s National Congresses meets at least three times a year. This will be its last meeting for 2021. The SACP invites the media to a post-meeting press briefing on the key outcomes of the meeting.
The details of the press briefing are as follows:
Date: Sunday, 5 December 2021
Time: 13h00
Venue: COSATU House, 2nd Floor (110 Jorissen Street, Cnr Simmons Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg, 2001)
The SACP General Secretary Dr Blade Nzimande will lead the Secretariat and National Office Bearers of the Party in outlining the key outcomes of the meeting and taking questions from the media.
The Central Committee will receive reports from its Secretariat and Political Bureau, including the Political Report. The report will evaluate experiences and lessons from the recent local government elections in detail and analyse the overall political situation in South Africa.
In discussing the way forward, the Central Committee plenary will adopt a programme of action for the year ahead. This will include opening preparations for the 15th National Congress of the SACP scheduled to take place in July 2022. The National Congress will adopt an updated Programme of the SACP, the South African Road to Socialism, to guide the Party in the new five-year period from July 2022 to July 2027. The programme will cover key areas such as economic, social, political and international policy.
