The Portfolio Committee on Communications has urged those interested in nominating suitably qualified persons to serve on the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) board not to miss the deadline tomorrow, 30 June 2010.
The Committee will shortlist, interview and recommend a list of successful candidates to the National Assembly for final adoption, in terms of the Broadcasting Act, No 4 of 1999.
The Committee Chairperson, Mr Humphrey Maxegwana, said: “Members of the Board must, when viewed collectively, represent a broad cross-section of the population of the Republic and be persons who are committed to the objects and principles as enunciated in the Charter of the Corporation.”
The Committee listed the compulsory information that should accompany a nomination, including the full name and address of the institution or individual making the nomination and the nominee’s signed acceptance of the nomination together with a curriculum vitae (CV).
“The nominee’s CV should contain full names, ID number, gender, contact details, previous work experience as well as certified copies of academic qualifications and ID document. Nominations and enquiries must be addressed to Mr Thembinkosi Ngoma, Committee Secretary at the 3rd Floor, 90 Plein Street, Cape Town, 8001 or emailed to him on tngoma@parliament.gov.za or faxed to 086 522 5740. Telephonic enquiries can be made to (021) 403 3733 or 083 709 8407,” said Mr Maxegwana.
