The Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises has resolved to request National Treasury, Minister of Finance Mr Malusi Gigaba, Minister of Public Enterprises Ms Lynne Brown, Chairperson of the Denel Board and strategic board members and executives to be part of the delegation that will again brief the Committee on circumstances surrounding the establishment of Denel Asia.
The Committee today was briefed by the Chairperson of the Board of Denel, Mr Daniel Mantsha, and the Acting Chief Financial Officer, Mr Odwa Mhlwana, on the status of the former executives of the company, who were under suspension, and on the Denel Asia deal. However, the Committee has emphasised the importance of having the National Treasury and the Minister of Finance present in the next meeting with Denel so that it can shed light on a number of questions around the Denel Asia deal.
The Committee has requested Denel to supply it with the Denton's report on Denel and ENS Africa's report on due diligence. The Committee looks forward to this engagement, as it will assist in clarifying this matter so that the Committee can see how to assist Denel in sorting out problems that are plaguing the company.
Issued by Parliamentary Communication Services on behalf of the Acting Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises, Ms Zukiswa Rantho
