As Parliament prepares to host the State of the Nation Address, debate on the address, the President’s reply, 30 meetings of parliamentary committees are scheduled up to 8 February. Nineteen of them are scheduled for this week.
Public hearings scheduled for this week are the:
- Traditional and Khoi-San Leadership Bill - Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, public hearings started today in Rustenburg in the North West, continue tomorrow in Mafikeng and Vryburg on Wednesday. On Thursday the committee moves to Kimberley in the Northern Cape. The committee is scheduled to hold hearings in the Free State from 27 to 31 January and KwaZulu-Natal from 1 to 3 February
- Protection, Promotion and Development and Management of Indigenous Knowledge Systems Bill - Portfolio Committee on Science and Technology, tomorrow, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
- Refugees Amendment Bill – Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs, tomorrow
- Financial Intelligence Centre Amendment Bill – Standing Committee on Finance, Wednesday
Briefings and deliberations scheduled this week involve:
- International treaties and obligations on role of ICT Council - Portfolio Committee on Telecommunications and Postal Services, tomorrow
- Annual reports for 2015/2016 financial year – Department of Environmental Affairs to Portfolio Committee on Environmental Affairs and Department of Transport to Select Committee on Economic and Business Development, tomorrow
