The Minister of Human Settlements Lindiwe Sisulu would like to send her condolences to Gogo Gertrude Makhanda and her family in Phillipi East, Cape Town, where six members of her family lost their lives in a fire that burned down their shack.
“I must say it is heart breaking to learn about this tragedy. To the family I would like to send my deepest condolences in these trying times. This is sad more especially when we as country are still dealing with the backlog of housing”, said Minister Sisulu.
“As we continue to deal with the huge task of providing decent homes to our destitute people we would like to encourage the nation to take care and avoid fires that cause deaths and mayhem in our communities”, added Minister Sisulu.
Issued by the Ministry of Human Settlements.
