Parliaments Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services welcomes the release of the terms of reference for the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into State Capture.
Committee Chairperson, Dr Mathole Motshekga, said the terms of reference are in line with the remedial action of the Public Protector. The Committee is now looking forward to the Commission starting its work speedily.
Dr Motshekga further said the Committee is also pleased that criminal prosecutions, where warranted, can flow from this process.
The terms of reference for the Commission were published today in the Government Gazette to investigate allegations of state capture, corruption and fraud. According the notice in the Gazette, they (the terms of reference) are guided by the former Public Protector, Adv Thuli Madonsela's State of Capture report, the Constitution, relevant legislation, policies, guidelines as well as the North Gauteng High Court order on the matter.
