The Portfolio Committee on Energy sent officials of the Department of Energy packing and rejected a report that was presented.
This is after the senior management of the department failed to prepare and present a full comprehensive report on the forensic investigation into the multi-billion rand impairment at PetroSA.
The Chairperson for the Committee, Mr Fikile Majola, said Members of the Committee had made a recommendation to Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson to commission a forensic investigation into the losses at PetroSA and the Committee was entitled to see and evaluate the report.
Members of the Committee were of the view that the department does not have the prerogative to choose documents that can be presented before the Committee.
The Committee was in agreement that a new date needs to be rescheduled so that the department can submit the forensic report. The Committee will meet with PetroSA and the department on 1 November 2016.
