After closing for lockdown due to COVID-19, the City of Johannesburg public libraries remained closed in line with health and safety protocols. 

As from Monday 09 November 2020 the City of Johannesburg libraries. Library users are notified of the following:

Members of the public may return Library books to all Johannesburg libraries between the hours of 09:00–16:00 from Monday to Friday.  No books may be borrowed from the library.

The following libraries will be open for study purposes Mondays to Fridays from 09:00- 12:00 and 13:00–16:00 to facilitate cleaning and sanitizing of spaces:
