Rand Water assures no water impact after cybersecurity incident

Water utility Rand Water has assured that a cybersecurity incident has not affected the quality and supply of water.

In a statement issued on Wednesday evening, the water utility said that it is responding to the incident.

“Our water treatment processes and quality control systems continue to operate normally,” it said.

Regular water quality monitoring and rigorous testing remain in place to ensure the delivery of safe, bulk potable water that complies with the South African National Standards (SANS) 241 for drinking water.

“Our core water delivery mandate continues uninterrupted and we are committed to restoring full system functionality as quickly as possible,” Rand Water concluded.
