President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation on Tuesday at 19:30, on developments in the country’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The address follows meetings in recent days with the National Coronavirus Command Council, the President’s Coordinating Council and Cabinet.
On Monday, Ramaphosa said as the Easter weekend nears, the threat of a third wave of the coronavirus is real and ever-present, adding that it was now more important than ever to take precautions while preparing for religious observances over the Easter period.
“As South Africa rolls out its national Covid-19 vaccination programme, government and social partners are continuously monitoring infection, treatment and patient recovery rates, as well as compliance with health regulations and other prevention measures,” the Presidency said.
