President Cyril Ramaphosa and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi have committed themselves to deepening the fraternal ties between Egypt and South Africa as part of advancing continental solidarity.
Ramaphosa on Sunday received congratulatory call from Al-Sisi, following his re-election as the President after the 2024 national and provincial elections, held in May.
Spokesperson to President Ramaphosa Vincent Magwenya said Ramaphosa expressed his appreciation for Al-Sisi’s good wishes and agreed on the importance of continued partnership between the two countries on matters of bilateral, continental and multilateral interest.
“Of particular significance to the two leaders is the need to work together on the Palestinian issue and the crisis in the Gaza strip,” explained Magwenya.
Al-Sisi shared with Ramaphosa his expectation that South Africa and Egypt would continue to cooperate on issues of common interest.
Ramaphosa and Al-Sisi were also in agreement on the need for expansion of trade, mutual investment and other areas of economic cooperation between the two States, Magwenya said.
