The Public Servants Association (PSA) supports initiatives undertaken by the Minister of Home Affairs, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU), and the Hawks in conducting raids to identify and eradicate criminals from the Department of Home Affairs system to enable honest officials to work in a corruption-free environment.

The PSA, representing the vast majority of employees at the Department of Home Affairs, has witnessed the detrimental effects of corruption in the Department. Innocent employees, striving to earn a living, are often affected by long-standing corrupt practices owing to systemic flaws. Perpetrators of corruption frequently misuse the credentials or stamps of unsuspecting officials, resulting in innocent employees being framed and punished.

The PSA has continuously condemned corruption and urges all employees to report any suspicious activities to aid in the investigation and eradication of corruption in the Department. The PSA further appeals to the Minister of Home Affairs and the Head of SIU to ensure that all raids, searches, and seizures comply with the law and do not infringe on anyone’s rights. Labour laws should be respected, and officials should not be treated as criminals without substantial evidence proving their guilt.

The PSA urges all officials to take a stance against corruption to restore the Department’s reputation as an efficient and trusted servant of the country and its citizens. The PSA further challenges the Department to urgently address and rectify systemic issues that foster corruption.
