President Cyril Ramaphosa will on Saturday lead government’s engagement with communities in the Mangaung metropolitan municipality, in the Free State, as part of the second post-State of the Nation Address Presidential Imbizo.
In his 2022 SoNA address Ramaphosa promised to leave no one behind. The Presidential Imbizo aims to work with all sectors of society and assist in solving problems related to service delivery in line with the District Development Model.
This visit comes after Cabinet placed the Mangaung metropolitan municipality under administration owing to a prolonged period of "significant financial and service delivery failures".
The President will be joined by Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela, a delegation of Ministers, members of the provincial executive council, and the mayor of Mangaung.
Saturday’s intervention will assist the Metro improve its finances and deliver on its mandate. The President will speak to members of the community to gain an understating of the challenges they face and to create solutions to improve the socioeconomic situation.
Before his visit to Mangaung, Ramaphosa is scheduled to visit the Vereeniging Interchange, following the extension of Vereeniging Ave and the construction of a bridge over the railway line.
He will also visit the Motheo TVET Artisans College, which is one of the four public TVET Colleges in the Free State.
It comprises six campuses including a Centre for Entrepreneurship, Rapid Incubator and an artisan academy.
