President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that former politician and anti-apartheid activist Aziz Pahad will be granted a Special Official Funeral Category 2 on Saturday.
Pahad, who served as the former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 82.
Ramaphosa has expressed his condolences to the extended Pahad family, who also lost Essop Pahad, brother to Aziz, in short succession. Essop Pahad, who was a former Minister in the Presidency, passed away in July.
Aziz Pahad’s funeral will take place on Saturday at 10h00 at the Westpark Cemetery, in Johannesburg. Ramaphosa ordered that flags be flown at half-mast until Saturday evening.
