Yesterday, Thursday, 29 April 2021, Rand Water’s Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant experienced a power supply failure that affected 60% of the Plant’s water pumping capacity.
The trip occurred as a result of an Eskom supply cable failure adjacent to the Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant.
Eskom was able to restore power late in the afternoon, and the Plant resumed pumping at 17h18.
The incident has resulted in the depletion of reservoirs level below our normal operating levels.
Rand Water would like to encourage consumers to use water sparingly whilst the reservoirs return to normal.
