Rand Water’s Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant experienced a power supply failure, which affected 60% of the water pumping. The incident occurred at 23:05 on Tuesday, 24 November 2020, as a result of an Eskom cable failure between Eskom’s Snowden Substation and Rand Water.
Eskom was called in, and worked on repairing the fault which was subsequently completed at 12:30 today.
This incident has resulted in the depletion of reservoirs level below our normal operating levels.
Full pumping has now resumed.
Rand Water would like to encourage consumers to use water sparingly as reservoirs are being replenished back to normal.
