Eskom will continue to implement Stage 1 rotational loadshedding until 06:00 tomorrow and will resume at 09:00 (Tuesday), owing to a shortage of generating capacity. Stage 1 will be suspended from 06:00 to 09:00 to assist customers and to provide ease from the morning road traffic congestion.

11 875MW as at 15:50 this afternoon. Eskom has been using emergency water reserves for its hydro pumped storage and diesel for its open cycle gas turbines today to supplement the shortage in generating capacity.

Eskom will provide a day ahead prognosis as the system remains vulnerable. We request customers to use electricity sparingly and to reduce demand during this period. Eskom also wishes to remind South Africans that there is a possibility of loadshedding over the next 18 months as we are conducting critical maintenance to restore the ageing plant to good health.

To assist us in reducing the stage of loadshedding, we appeal to customers to use electricity sparingly:

• Set air-conditioners’ average temperature at 23ºC

• Switch off your geysers over peak periods

• Use the cold water tap rather than using the geyser every time

• Set your swimming pool pump cycle to run twice a day, three hours at a time

• At the end of the day, turn off computers, copiers, printers and fax machines at the

  switch.

We appeal to customers to revisit their loadshedding schedules on the Eskom (https://loadshedding.eskom.co.za) or local municipal websites, depending on their electricity supplier, to review amendments.
