There is no loadshedding expected today and the probability of loadshedding is low for the week. However, the system remains constrained and vulnerable and any unexpected shift, such as unplanned breakdowns, could result in loadshedding at short notice.

The improved prognosis is due to the return of some of our generating units from planned and unplanned maintenance and our emergency reserves showing significant improvement.

We continue to appeal to residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly. Please switch off geysers as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand. As we are experiencing a heat wave in some parts of the country, we ask that you use your air conditioners efficiently at 23ºC.

We will continue to keep South Africans informed about the status of the electricity system and our recovery efforts.

Eskom would like to thank customers for their patience and support in reducing demand by using electricity sparingly and industrial customers for their participation in load curtailment, when necessary; allowing us to pull through this difficult time.
